Next Tuesday, voters in Texas, Ohio, Rhode Island and Vermont will play an important role in deciding who will be the next Democratic candidate for President. There are 370 delegates up for grabs with Texas and Ohio alone accounting for 334 delegates. We are in the final stretch and need all hands on deck to continue Senator Obama's impressive winning streak and march one step closer to the nomination.
An important reason why Senator Obama has been so successful recently has been the support of our Latino community. His rise among Latinos reflects the effectiveness of all your hard work in reaching out to the Latino community.
For the final stretch in Texas and Ohio, the campaign needs you immediately! There is a particular need for Spanish speakers to call into Texas and for people on the ground in both states. Please find more information below on these and other opportunities:

Crunch Time in Texas and Ohio
This is the last full week of campaigning in Texas and Ohio as both Democratic candidates look to score big victories in Tuesday's all important primary which includes the delegate rich states of Texas and Ohio. Senator Obama continues to close the gap in both states and according to a recent Associated Press-Ipsos poll, overall Senator Obama has 46 percent to Clinton's 43 percent, a virtual tie. In potential matchups for November's general election, Clinton leads Arizona Sen. John McCain by 48 percent to 43 percent. However, Senator Obama's lead over the likely GOP nominee is twice that size, 51 percent to 41 percent.
Because of your outreach efforts, particularly with respect to the Latino community, Senator Obama is enjoying so much success and is poised to keep the momentum going. Keep up the good work and for those who are not members of our grassroots organization Latinos for Obama, sign up now and become a part of this historic campaign!

Obama Scores Big at Democratic Debate in Austin, Texas
Senator Obama had a tremendous showing tonight as he squared off against his opponent in the CNN/Univision Democratic debate in Austin, Texas. The candidates debated everything from Raul Castro to the economy. Senator Obama was strong on the issues providing more nuanced and detailed answers than in previous debates. He was effective in driving home the message that he is not the only candidate left in the race with strong policy positions. However, he showed that he is the candidate that will be most effective at building a bipartisan coalition to pass legislation and govern. He also mentioned Latin America and demonstrated a genuine interest in providing solutions to the challenges that the region faces. In the end, Senator Obama came across as presidential and showed why he is going to win the Democratic nomination and later, the White House.
To help make this happen, Latinos for Obama needs you! Sign up and get involved in Latino outreach activities to help our candidate become the next President of the United States.

Hi all!
For those of you who have not yet made my acquaintance, I used to work at the Northeast Field Desk for the Barack Obama campaign over the summer. As some of you may know, I made my exit from the campaign due to a previous commitment I had made with another job. However I couldn't stay away from the movement for too long so a couple months ago I returned to the campaign and now continue to work with Ray Rivera. Looking at how all of our contests in the northeast have gone so far I'm pleased to say that I couldn't be prouder of how far we have come since June in what has seemed like an uphill battle.
We are currently stationed in Texas and as most media outlets are predicting, the state of the nomination depends on our performance out here. The Clintons have been immersed in Texas politics since the George McGovern campaign back in the 1970s so our main challenge our here is simply name recognition. That is what I am asking all of you guys to consider helping out by being an Out of State Obama Precinct Captain for South Texas, the region in which I am organizing and Ray Rivera is heading up.
To be an Out of State Obama Precinct Captain all you will need is a computer. What being an Out of State Obama Precinct Captain entails is using an online tool on the Obama website that will generate Texas residents' contact information in addition to the script you will be using when you call them. You will use this to call folks and let them know about the caucus and find out whether or not they are supporters. The reason we are in such urgent need for you to do this is because the primary is less than three weeks away and the vast majority of folks out here have never once been contacted by the campaign. If you choose to help out in this way, your ultimate goal in being an Out of State Obama Precinct Captain would be to find an enthusiastic supporter in the precinct in which you're covering to take over your responsibilities as Precinct Captain. In doing this you are helping us to quickly build up a supporter base out here and transition Obama Precinct Captain responsibilities to a localized level.
If this is something you may be interested in please, shoot me an email back or give me a call and I will be able to discuss this program with you in greater detail. My number is 303-927-8322.
Let's win this!

Cristina Chiappe Tells an Inspirational Story About Why She Supports Barack Obama at Campaign Rally in NoVa
My name is Cristina Chiappe. My family immigrated to this country from Lima Peru and settled in Northern Virginia when I was 14 years old. As a Latina of Japanese and Italian ancestry, a daughter, wife and mother, I want to share with you why I support Sen. Barack Obama for President and why I volunteer for his campaign. These reasons are intensely personal so you might have to forgive me if I get a bit emotional.
To me Sen. Obama represents so much of what I am and everything I hope my children will aspire to become. Barack Obama’s story is like the story of my parents, like my story, and that of my children … and it is part of the larger American story.
After my son was born, almost 4 years ago, many people would graciously tell me that he would one day become either a movie star or a politician. On one occasion, I replied, “a politician would be nice, but with a name like Matteo Chiappetta he could never become President of the United States.” Look where we are now, on the verge of nominating Barack Obama to be our Democratic Candidate for President of the United States.
I want Barack Obama to be our next president — my next president and my children’s next president — so that the hope of a skinny kid with a funny name who believes America has a place for him would not just be a hope anymore for my son MATTEO and my baby girl, GABRIELA. Sen. Obama has allowed all of us to dream again of a better future and a better AMERICA — and actually, I dream of him becoming president, not just figuratively but literally! The other day I had a dream that Barack Obama was President and when I woke up I thought it was TRUE. And let ME tell you that it was a GOOD DAY!
My dreams are those of a woman, de una Latina, of an Asian-American, of an immigrant, of a daughter, of a wife — and most importantly, of a mother of two young children– it is for them that I dream, it is for them that I have spent countless hours campaigning for Sen. Obama — with so much effort and so much passion — it is for my children and their generation that I want Barack Obama to be the next president of the United States of America.
And now, it is in this spirit of diversity and multiculturalism, a spirit so alive in our communities in Northern Virginia that I introduce to you a man that has embraced all of his constituents and leads us with great strength and courage. Gov. Tim Kaine is a tireless advocate and friend of families and immigrants throughout the Commonwealth. He has been a supporter of Barack Obama from the very beginning and he is National co-chair of the campaign. Let’s welcome, his Excellency, Governor Tim Kaine!
